Three drawing samples are required of allcandidates. The first drawing must represent a bicycle. The second drawing mustutilize both sides of the sheet of drawing paper. For the third sample, yourvisualization must combine image and text.
Each drawing must bedone on a sheet of white paper measuring 16" x 20" (40 cm x 50 cm).Drawings one and two must be done using no other medium than graphite pencil. For your third drawing sample, you may use any dry (fixable) medium, awater-based medium (such as acrylic, ink, watercolor or gouache) or acombination of these media. Do not, however, use any oil-based medium, orcollage, for you third drawing. Remember that whatever medium(s) you choose foryour third drawing, you must be able to fold the paper to mail it to ouroffice.
You may approach thesethree drawings in any way you wish. For example, your drawings may be abstractexpressions or realistic renderings; you may choose to draw an object alone orplace it in a situation; you may choose to cover the entire surface of the pageor only a small portion of it, etc. Other than the stated requirements relatedto subject (i.e., bicycle), medium (graphite pencil) and paper size (16" x20"), everything and anything else are up to you.
We consider drawing tobe as much about process as presentation, so we encourage you to consider yourdrawing submissions as exercises in experimental thinking and risk-taking morethan final presentations or examples of technical proficiency. We encourage youto consider the full range of possible expression in your submissions, as we donot value any particular style of drawing more than another.
These drawings must be submitted in their original form, not asreproductions. Fold your drawings in half and then in half again to a finishedsize of 8" x 10" (500px x 625px) and be sure to note your full name andaddress on the back of each drawing.

Your portfolio must bereproduced and may be submitted as digital image files on a CD or DVD, as 35mmslides, or as unmounted photographic prints (no larger than 8" x 10"or 500px x 625px each). At this time, we do not accept portfolio submissions ofwork posted to a website.
